Dear Whitby Collegiate community,

We’re delighted to share with you an exciting new phase in the work of the Whitby Collegiate Foundation – a very important milestone for our school. We have several announcements, and some opportunities for you to get involved in the Foundation’s work to grow “Partnerships That Change Lives”.

Who we are

The Whitby Collegiate Foundation was created in response to the needs of the school community and the wider community. One of the Foundation’s key roles is to support as many young people as possible to access the quality education that Whitby Collegiate offers.

The Foundation partners with individuals, families and businesses to raise funds for bursaries and scholarships, and to support students and staff with first class learning environments. We also run several annual community events, and invite you to save the dates for these.

Raisely Launch

We’re excited to launch our new community engagement and fundraising platform. Raisely brings to life the Foundation’s important mission and outcomes, and links supporters directly to updates and fundraising opportunities. Our annual Gala dinner is fast approaching, and this year will be an event of Olympic proportions! Join us for a wonderful celebration of Olympic year, with world class speakers and entertainers, a delicious meal, fundraising auctions and raffles, and a special celebration of the Olympians within our own school community.

We’re thrilled to announce that we have secured the stunning Public Trust Hall in Wellington as our venue for this celebration. This will be a truly world-class evening, with all funds raised enabling more young people to benefit from the quality education experience offered at Whitby Collegiate.

Special guest speakers include cycling legend and Olympic gold medallist Sarah Ulmer; Black Ferns Sevens stars Shakira Baker, Mahina Paul and Risaleanna Pouri-Lane, and our very own Whitby Collegiate Olympians Matt Beach (Taekwondo), Kiri Shaw (Softball) and Shelley Addison (Olympic Beach Volleyball Team Manager).

We’re thrilled to be hosting our Whitby Collegiate Community Market Day, another popular event on our bursary and scholarship fundraising calendar. We pack the school gym with pre-loved and new items awaiting their new homes. There are stallholders, food vendors, raffles and lots of goodies to purchase. If you would like to be involved, there are many ways that you can help us make this event a success.

Donations

We’re collecting donated items for re-sale. We would love to re-home your pre-loved books, clothing, jewellery & accessories, homewares, tools, children’s items, etc.

School Uniform

Our very popular second hand uniform stall is back this year. If you have any Whitby Collegiate school uniform items to donate, please get in touch.

Raffle Prizes

Our raffles were a huge success last year. If you or your business would like to contribute an item, gift basket, voucher or anything else, we would be very grateful.

Stallholders & Food Truck Vendors

Foundation Appointments

As we move into an exciting new phase with the above projects, with more to be shared soon, we are very pleased to announce the following appointment from the existing Board:

Julie has been a proud parent and supporter of Whitby Collegiate since the school’s inception, with her son Conor currently in Year 12. Julie’s day job is Deputy Managing Director for the NZ division of Bupa, a global healthcare company. Julie holds a Bachelor of Commerce & Administration, is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) and a Chartered Member of the NZ Institute of Directors (CMinstD). She is also an independent Board Director and Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee for SPCA NZ.

We are also very excited to welcome new Board Members Rommel Anthony, Lance Duckett and Kym and Todd Wylie to join the existing team of Shelley Addison, Navin Bhat, Shelley Dixon, Nadine Green, Nadine Hansen, Amarjit Maxwell, Tehzeen Newland, Julie and Jonathan Sellar, Dan Stevens and Edna Tuitupou. With these changes, and with your support, we’re well positioned to make a significant contribution to the school’s future.
