Getting to Whitby Collegiate
-
Whitby Collegiate is pleased to offer a subsidised school bus service exclusively for our students. This safe and reliable service is now delivered by Tranzit Coachlines, a New Zealand family-owned business that is preparing to celebrate its centenary in 2025.
Tranzit has a fleet of dedicated buses and friendly drivers that ensure students arrive on time and ready for the school day.
Each route is designated for Whitby Collegiate students only. Coaches will transport students directly to the school, and no students will be permitted to disembark before arrival. Members of the public are not permitted to use this service.
While only key stops are listed in the timetables, buses will stop at any public bus stop along the route. Please ensure that students are wearing school uniform (unless it is a designated non-uniform day) and are clearly visible to the driver as the bus approaches.
In the event of delays—due to weather, road incidents —the school will send out notifications via the School Apps platform. To stay informed, please ensure you are subscribed to the relevant alerts.
Afternoon buses depart from school at 3:20 p.m., following the same routes in reverse to return students home.
If you have any questions or concerns about transport arrangements, please contact the school office at office@whitbycollegiate.school.nz or phone (04) 234 1070.
-
It is very important that our parent community are aware of traffic safety requirements when dropping off or picking up students.
Drop off and pick-up points are:
Discovery Drive
Adventure Park car park
Public walkway access points in Solander Place and Genoa Place
Starboard Lane cannot be used as a drop off and pick up point between the hours of:
8:00am and 9:00am
2:30pm and 3:30pm
Note the dotted yellow lines on the curve of Discovery Drive near Starboard Lane.
Parents are not to park on the grass verge.
Parents are not to use Starboard Lane entrance as a turning point.
In addition, we ask that students do not:
Cross Discovery Drive on foot:
Use the pedestrian underpass beneath Discovery Drive.
Cross the bottom of Starboard Lane near the buses on foot.
Please cross outside the main school office.
All the above measures are designed to ensure the safety of our students when travelling to and from school. Thank you for supporting us to do this.
